Roots Scotland is continuing to link up with communities and connect them with relevant organisations to access support at this time. In place of our usual face-to-face ‘Meet the Funder’ sessions we are now coordinating online engagement opportunities between community groups and key organisations from the heritage sector. More
information on our next session is included below.

Would you like to get involved in online activities for this year’s Doors Open Days festival in September? Are you looking for some funding or other support to deliver your activities or to make connections in heritage, museums, or archives?

We have 4 spaces available for our online ‘Meet the Funders’ session with Scottish Civic Trust on Thursday 18th June between 2pm and 4pm via Zoom.

For more information, or to book now, please contact Aneel via

In the meantime, for any further general support or advice in relation to the heritage sector, please do not hesitate to contact us. Keep in touch with what we are doing via social media and check out our Roots Scotland Newsletter for more information in relation to response to the Covid-19 crisis from the heritage sector and beyond –

Cook Grow Sew – Branching Out is WSREC environmental projects supporting minority ethnic communities across Glasgow, Renfrewshire, and East Dunbartonshire to reduce their carbon emissions and increase climate awareness. The project will facilitate discussion about climate change by offering one to one support, workshops, and events on Energy, Food and Waste, encouraging young people and volunteers to start their climate change journey.

Through COVID-19 Cook Grow Sew will support communities with Energy Advice issues related to top up, energy debt, and tariff review. We are also able to provide support with virtual home visits for issues relating to temperature/heating/boiler settings.

For One to One to Support contact Mona Awan via 07497 309635 /

We are continuing to provide advice and advocacy in hate crime and discrimination cases. This includes a third party reporting helpline for anyone who would prefer to report a hate crime through WSREC rather than reporting directly to the police.

For assistance or further information, please email or phone 07497 187992 on Mondays or Thursdays.

Free online training sessions

We are currently providing free online training sessions on:

  • Equality: Mainstreaming anti-sectarianism (for any organisation)

  • Equality in the workplace (for private sector companies)

All training will be adapted to the specific needs of your organisation. Both of these options include the opportunity for additional one-to-one advice for organisations on these topics. To discuss the options further, please email or phone 07497 187992.

Post lockdown, the Shine Bright project was unable to deliver workshops and meet members face to face therefore, we are now delivering our services through other methods:
