Positive Directions Project

Development Worker (Voluntary)

This post is intended for volunteers who can spare 15 hours per week for 5 months.  For the successful candidate WSREC can offer 7.5 hours per week paid sessional work at £8 per hour on the condition that a further 7.5 hours is undertaken on a voluntary basis.

The Positive Directions Project is a 6 month project between WSREC and Madrasa Taleem Ul Islam supported by Strathclyde Police.

This 6 month pilot project has mainly been set up to engage with the Muslim Women Community as it has been identified that much work has been carried out with Muslim males (in particularly youths) in the past on topics such as the understanding of religious and social issues affecting the Muslim community at the moment.

Sessional Youth Worker

 

Salary - £8 per hour

Hours – Up to 80 hours in total from September to December ‘10 

West of Scotland Regional Equality Council requires a sessional youth worker to develop and deliver its ‘United We Dance’ programme.  United We Dance is a 12 week dancing project in Govanhill, Glasgow which aims to attract young people from different cultural backgrounds to participate and enjoy a series of dance workshops.

 

 

You will be required to recruit young people from diverse backgrounds in Govanhill to participate in the dance workshops.  You will link the programme with local youth organisations, promote the programme and encourage and support young people and dance tutors during workshops and at the projects final performance. 

 

The successful candidate will undergo an Enhanced Disclosure check prior to appointment.
