IMPORTANT NEWS Effective from the 1st of September 2008 West of Scotland Racial Equality Council Limited has changed its name to West of Scotland Regional Equality Council Limited. The aims of WSREC to promote good community relations and to create an equality of opportunity for everyone remain unchanged.

WSREC would like to introduce its new Equality Advice Project resourced by the Equality & Human Rights Commission.
This project will provide advice and information to individuals across the West of Scotland on equality issues in the areas of employment and service delivery. The project will also provide information of equality legislation in the following areas:

WSREC wins Government Contract
The Board of Directors is delighted to announce the award of the contract to WSREC for the “Provision of Diversity Services for the Crown Office & Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) in Strathclyde”. The award of this contract heralds a new stage in long and fruitful partnership between WSREC and COPFS with the focus of the provision encapsulating race, gender and disability equality.

WSREC is delighted to announce the launch of our new publication, A Celebration of Our Roots, as part of the Public Authorities Racial Equality Forum Education Group. The book is a collection of writing and pictures by young people about their diverse families. this an excellent equality and diversity educational resource and can be purchased from WSREC for £5.00 each.

MBE Honour for Bushra Iqbal Bailie Hanzala Malik, Chair of WSREC, is delighted to announce that Bushra Iqbal, Head of Policy & Strategy Development, has been honoured with an MBE in the Queens New Years Honours List. This MBE has been awarded in respect of Mrs Iqbals work in the field of community relations in Strathclyde through her work at the West of Scotland Racial Equality Council.
