Racially Motivated Crime: A Guide for Victims & Witness' DVD PDF Print E-mail

Racially Motivated Crime:  A Guide for Victims & Witness' DVD has been prepared to as a resource to provide information on the criminal justice system for victims and witnesses of racist crime.

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) and Strathclyde Police Lanarkshire Diversity Group have jointly produced with the the DVD with the aim of:

  • increasing confidence in the criminal justice system
  • helping to deal effectively with reports of racist crime
  • raising awareness of the services available to victims and witnesses
  • encouraging victims and witnesses to take advantage of the support available to them
  • helping to reduce the trauma of attending court.

The DVD contains footage from a real case, which graphically illustrates the evil of racist crime. Those who appear in the DVD are ordinary people from the Lanarkshire area, talking about their experiences, whether as a victim or a representative of their organisation.

This DVD has ben heralded as an excellent way in helping the victims and witness' of racist crime understand what has happened to them and also to help guide them through the legal processes which follow.
